Nouakchott to Terjit and the M'Haireth Oasis
Terjit Oasis →Early morning departure from Nouakchott, heading north-east through Oum Tounsi and the copper-mining town of Akjoujt, then a scenic stop at Ain Ehel Taya, a natural spring at the gateway of the Adrar plateau — a perfect photo and tea break.
Arrival at the magical Terjit Oasis, nestled between canyon walls with its permanent springs and lush palm grove; lunch in the shade of the palms. In the afternoon, an excursion to the beautiful M'Haireth Oasis, one of the largest palm groves of the Adrar, surrounded by golden dunes and dark cliffs. Return to Terjit in the late afternoon.

Terjit to Atar and Choum — Night Aboard the Desert Train
The Desert Train and Choum Station →After breakfast, we drive to Atar, the historic capital of the Adrar region. A morning discovering the city: the traditional market, silver and leather craftsmen, and the authentic atmosphere of this caravan crossroads. Lunch in Atar, then departure across dramatic desert scenery to Choum.
On arrival, our team confirms the expected arrival time of the iron ore train (the train usually passes Choum in the evening; timing can vary by a few hours — this is part of the adventure!). While waiting, we visit the famous Choum Tunnel, a remarkable relic of colonial-era railway engineering carved through the rock, then return to the station area for dinner.
Boarding the legendary Desert Train — up to 2.5 km long — for a once-in-a-lifetime night ride through the Sahara toward the Atlantic coast, under an endless sky of stars.
Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight: aboard the iron ore train (Choum → Nouadhibou).
